OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Working with the entire 59 Productions team and external collaborators and suppliers, this role will collaborate closely with designers and directors to work through each design phase in order to play a pivotal in delivering some of the most innovative and technically challenging projects in the entertainment industry today. An important part of this job would be leading the technical design of complex production technical systems, and supervise the production of the paperwork to support this. This role will be responsible for carrying out critical technical preparatory work as well as ensuring the safe delivery of projects on site, including coordinating the production team. This role will require some overseas travel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Key responsibilities shall include (but are not be limited to):

– Working with the 59 Team from concept to delivery phrase, both on site and in studio, working on:

  • Technical Conception
  • Technical Design
  • Technical Drafting and Production of schematics and other relevant paperwork
  • Production of specifications and costings
  • Liaison with suppliers
  • Deployment and commissioning of systems
  • Programming of shows

– On site work as necessary

– Line Management and continued mentoring of:

  • The Technical Associates
  • The Technical Intern

– Deputise for members of the Technical team in the event of their absence

– Management of Technical Teams on Site

– Researching and implementing new technologies for current and future projects, including trips to relevant demonstrations, training sessions, trade shows etc

– Working with members of the design departments to assist in their technical requirements, testing and queries

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required:

  • Demonstrable experience in video production
  • Experience in specifying, implementing, programming and operating complex video systems
  • Ability to proactively research and apply new technical knowledge to current and future projects
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues from all departments and all backgrounds
  • Knowledge of Media Servers (including but not limited to Disguise, Catalyst)
  • Basic knowledge of sound for live entertainment
  • Basic knowledge of lighting for live entertainment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritising conflicting demands
  • Proficient in CAD Software (AutoCAD, Vectorworks)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite

Desired:

  • Proficient in 3D CAD Tools (Rhino, Cinema 4D, Modo etc)
  • Experience drawing schematics
  • Experience mentoring and teaching future professionals
