Working largely with director Katie Mitchell, 59's director Leo Warner has developed a comprehensive creative and technical technique for integrating live video into performance. Many of the shows have involved actors operating camera equipment to an incredibly high degree of accuracy, sometimes - though not always - supplemented with skilled camera operators. The live output is graded live using pre-programmed parameters, and the edited film - which is presented to a cinematic standard - is output simultaneously to a screen or screens integrated into the stage design.
