Avignon Festival, July 2011
After an acclaimed opening at Berlin's famous Schaubuhne Theatre in 2010 (where it is still in the repertory season), this production was selected to appear at the prestigious Avignon Festival for 5 sell-out shows in July 2011.
Fifty Nine's Leo Warner co-directs with Katie Mitchell on this multimedia reimagining of August Strindberg's classic from 1888.
The production - which re-imagines the story through the eyes of Julie's servant Kristin - uses the live filming technique developed over several collaborations, including the critically-acclaimed Al Gran Sole Carico D'Amore at the Salzburg Festival in 2009.
